Overview And Experience
I didn’t take the most traditional path to the law. My first degree was a Bachelor of Science in Nursing—I figured I’d use that to pay my way through medical school or maybe even start my own home healthcare business. But the deeper I got into medicine, the more I realized it wasn’t my calling. Law, on the other hand, gave me the problem-solving, advocacy, and challenge I was looking for.
I started my legal career as an accident and injury attorney, where my medical background gave me an edge in handling medically complex cases. But, as life has a way of doing, things changed. My practice started pulling me more into family law. And then my personal life pulled me there, too.
My wife and I have two children, and when my youngest was diagnosed with autism, I had to shift my focus—both as a father and as an attorney. The more I prioritized my own family, the more I saw the need to help other families through some of life’s toughest transitions. Before I knew it, family law had become the heart of my practice. I still enjoy handling accident cases and criminal defense, but at the core of what I do, it’s all about protecting families and their futures.
Brana Williams and I formed Indigo Family Law with that same vision: a family-first practice that helps people through the difficult moments—divorce, custody battles, criminal charges—while also making sure they have a plan for the future. At Indigo, we help families navigate the now while securing the tomorrow. That’s the Indigo difference.
Outside the office, you’ll almost always find me outdoors—surfing, skating, fishing, boating, or hiking. My family and I are trying to visit as many National Parks as possible, though the Smoky Mountains will always be a favorite. I love to cook (I’ll try anything once), and I brew my own beer—everything from IPAs to stouts. If anyone can help me finally master a sour, I’ll be forever in your debt.
